MiG-21SM Fishbed-J, a colored printed interior 1:48 completed with parts in resin made by printing. Intended to improve the pilot's space of the Soviet fighter. Intended for the Eduard kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set joins two materials: colored layered items carried on decal paper and tiny resin parts made by printing. While the flat items take care of the instrument panel, the side consoles and the belts, the three-dimensional parts add where real volume is needed. The result is a cockpit that can be examined close up with the canopy raised. The target kit is Eduard.
The MiG-21SM type was the home Soviet counterpart of the export MF version and in the design bureau it carried the factory number fifteen. What set it apart from the older versions was the R-13-300 engine with higher thrust, a radar of the Sapfir series and above all a permanently built-in twin-barrel cannon in 23 mm caliber in a fairing under the fuselage, thanks to which the aircraft stopped depending on a podded weapon. It was with this generation that the airframe was given four pylons under the wing. The designation Fishbed-J was used for this family by the North Atlantic Alliance.
First rid the plastic parts of grease and coat them with a dark base. The colored items are taken off once the paper is moistened and are fixed with glue; the resin parts are separated from the casting blocks with a sharp knife and sanded with protection of the airways. Leave out the decal softener, however; it would damage the printed resin.
The aircraft itself has to be obtained separately; the set deals only with its interior.
