An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet fighter Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29A in 1:48 scale from Academy. The model offers a well-worked cockpit, clear canopy parts and a rich load of underwing armament; the large 1:48 format brings out the massive twin-engined structure and the characteristic leading-edge root extensions.
The MiG-29 (NATO reporting name Fulcrum) is a Soviet twin-engined fourth-generation fighter intended for air combat at short and medium range. The MiG-29A (Fulcrum-A) variant was the basic production version, operated by many countries including the Czechoslovakia of the day. The machine stands out for its high agility and its typical pair of tailfins.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with thin cement for plastic. Assemble and paint the cockpit first, then close the fuselage; mask the canopy and paint the framing separately. Apply primer before painting. Paint the pylons and missiles separately. For the typical gray camouflage schemes an airbrush and a fine wash into the engraved lines work well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
