This set contains photo-etched crew harness belts for a plastic model of the Mil Mi-24 attack helicopter in the V and VP versions in 1:48 scale. It belongs to the Zoom range, that is the simplified pre-colored range of the Czech manufacturer Eduard: the parts are of thin steel sheet, printed in color and given a self-adhesive layer, so they do not have to be painted. The designation STEEL means that the carrier is not brass but steel — steel holds the shape of a bend better, so the belts can be convincingly folded over the edge of a seat and left to hang freely.
The Mi-24 is a Soviet attack helicopter with the pilot's and the operator's cockpits arranged in tandem and with room for troops in the rear fuselage. The V and VP versions are among the most widespread and differ, among other things, in the type of fixed gun armament in the nose. The cockpits of both versions have deep bucket seats on which the belts are clearly visible, even once the glazing is closed.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface and hold them with tweezers. The self-adhesive layer holds well, but on bent parts a drop of super glue is safer. Let the belts wave slightly, so that they do not look like flat sheet — a real strap never lies perfectly flat. Take the metallic sheen off the cut edges with a dot of paint. At the end it is worth unifying the whole interior with a matte coat and a light bringing-out wash.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit in its own right. Neither the plastic model nor paints are included in the package.
