The Mitsubishi J8M1 Shusui in 1:48 scale: an aid for spraying thanks to which the surfaces of a finished aircraft come across as hinged.
Responsibility details are not available.
Covering for spraying that suggests, even on so small an aircraft, that its surfaces are not glued on fast. The difference arises in shade: a covered part stays in the lighter base, the neighboring strip is gone over more deeply and the eye reads the division between the two fields as shadow under a hinged surface. Prepared for a model in 1:48.
The Shusui was the Japanese answer to high-altitude raids, built on the documents of the German rocket-powered Me 163. The submarine carrying the complete documentation did not reach Japan, so the designers had to work a number of details out themselves. The result was a tailless aircraft with a swept wing and a rocket engine running on two aggressive liquids, which was to climb to the bombers, attack and land in a glide. The first flight with the engine in the summer of 1945 ended in a crash and the type never reached combat deployment, but among modelers it is exceptionally popular precisely for being unfinished.
A small airframe does not stand a heavy hand. Lower the pressure, come closer and work in really thin coats, otherwise the division bleeds on a short surface. Keep the contrast lower than on large aircraft, because on a small surface even a slight difference tells. The base must be smooth and dried out, otherwise the edge lifts during removal.
