1:48 North American F-86 F Sabre from Hasegawa is a plastic kit of the jet fighter in a special release devoted to the aces of the Korean War.
Responsibility details are not available.
A classic injection-molded kit of the F-86F jet fighter in 1:48 scale from the Japanese firm Hasegawa. The release is aimed at the machines of pilots who made their name among the fighter aces of the Korean War, so the model stands or falls by carefully executed markings.
The Sabre was the first American fighter with a swept wing that matched its contemporary rivals in combat. It was powered by a single J47 jet engine and in the nose it carried six 12.7 mm machine guns placed along the sides of the air intake. The F version received a more powerful engine and some of the machines a modified wing with greater chord at the root and at the tip, which improved agility at high altitudes. It is to the F-86F that most of the air victories won by the American fighter force over Korea belong.
A surface without camouflage is demanding to prepare on the Sabre: a polished metal look reveals every scratch, so sand the surfaces with fine abrasive sponges to a high gloss and only then spray the metallic shades. The individual panels can be shaded slightly with several tones of metal, so that the surface does not look flat. Apply the color stripes of the markings over a smooth gloss base, and the front part of the air intake will call for thorough blanking off, so that paint does not get inside.
The kit is supplied as a set of unassembled plastic parts, without paints and without glue.
