An injection-molded plastic kit of the American North American P-51B Mustang fighter in 1:48 scale from Tamiya. It is a quality mold with fine engraved surface detail and an accurate build; the model captures the early B version with the fuselage spine running to a point (the so-called razorback). The exact contents of the box and the number of decal schemes differ from one boxing to another.
The P-51 Mustang was an American fighter of the Second World War which, thanks to its liquid-cooled engine and long range, became famous as the escort fighter of the bombers over Europe. The P-51B version differed from the later and better known D version above all in the shape of the rear fuselage: it had a full spine running to a point and a framed canopy instead of a bubble canopy. It was one of the first variants with the powerful license-built engine that gave the Mustang its famous flying qualities.
Glue the parts with a thin plastic cement, fill the seams and sand them down. Paint the cockpit interior and bring out its detail before you close the fuselage, and glue the glazing with a canopy glue. After the gloss clear coat and the decals, bring out the panel lines with a wash; complete the polished metal as well as the camouflaged surfaces with fine wear applied with an airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
