A precisely cast resin radial engine for the American Curtiss P-36A Hawk fighter in 1:48 scale. It is an aftermarket detail part for the engine bay that replaces the simplified plastic engine from a base kit, not a stand-alone aircraft model.
The Curtiss P-36 Hawk was an American single-seat fighter of the late 1930s with a Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp radial engine. In the P-36A version it served with the US Army as the predecessor of the later P-40. The export equivalent, the Hawk 75, was used among others by the French air service at the start of the war.
Resin parts call for more careful work than plastic: first wash them to remove mold release residue, separate them carefully from the casting block and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Protect your airways when sanding and cutting small parts. Apply a primer before painting. The cylinders and the lines of the engine come into their own once painted in metallic shades and gone over with a dry brush; before the cowling is closed, check the seating depth dry.
The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
