This photo-etched detail set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard refines a plastic model of the twin-engine Lockheed P-38J Lightning fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not a standalone airplane model but an accessory that enriches the cockpit above all, and other areas of the kit, with fine metal parts for details that are only suggested in injection-molded plastic.
The P-38 Lightning was an American twin-engine fighter of the Second World War with its characteristic twin-boom layout and a central nacelle. The P-38J version brought improved radiators and better performance at high altitude. The Lightning made its name in the Pacific and over Europe as a fighter, an escort and a photo-reconnaissance aircraft.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp knife on a hard surface and make the bends over a metal ruler or in a bending tool. Glue the small elements with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Do not varnish the pre-painted parts with aggressive lacquers, so that the printing is not damaged.
The set contains photo-etched parts only. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
