1:48 P-40N seatbelts STEEL are color-printed harness straps of etched steel for the pilot seat of the Curtiss P-40N fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
Eduard makes the sets marked STEEL from etched steel instead of the usual brass. The difference shows at the first trial: steel holds a shape, so a strap draped over the edge of a seat stays lying the way you put it and does not spring back. The sheets are color-printed including the fittings and the buckles, so once cut out and bent the work is practically over. This is an accessory to a plastic kit of the fighter, not a model.
The letter N marks the last and most numerous production version of the whole P-40 family. Curtiss lightened the machine, cut the fuel load and enlarged the glazing behind the pilot so that the view to the rear was finally usable. The Allison V-1710 engine worked no miracles at high altitude, but the aircraft stood rough handling and operation from field strips. American, Australian, New Zealand, Soviet and Chinese units flew it.
Bend the strap in small steps, ideally with tweezers with flat jaws. Hold the buckle and make the bend in one movement, because repeated straightening tires the metal. A drop of cyanoacrylate glue applied with the tip of a toothpick is more than enough for attaching it.
