1:48 P-47D Razorback - Mask Set for Miniart

Eduard 1:48 P-47D Razorback: masking set for the MiniArt kit

This is an Eduard masking set, a modeling accessory, not an airplane kit. The set is shaped to fit the kit of the P-47D Thunderbolt in the Razorback form in 1:48 scale from MiniArt. It contains pre-cut self-adhesive masks in kabuki film for the cockpit glazing and for the landing gear wheels. Kabuki film is known for adhering well even on curved surfaces, for resisting paint and for peeling off cleanly with no adhesive residue. On a Thunderbolt with its dorsal spine (the razorback) and busy canopy framing, cutting masks from tape by hand is slow and inaccurate, so ready-made masks save time and give sharp, straight paint edges.

Use

• Wash and degrease the clear parts and the wheels before masking, and touch the masks as little as possible.
• Lift the masks out of the sheet with tweezers or the tip of a scalpel, apply them along the frames and press the edges down carefully.
• The wheel masks separate the tire from the hub; apply them before spraying and you save yourself repainting by brush.
• Paint in thin coats; an airbrush and a light application that cannot get under the edge of a mask are ideal.
• Peel the masks off once the paint has set, slowly and at a sharp angle.

Who the set is for

For modelers who are building the MiniArt P-47D Razorback in 1:48 scale and want to paint the cockpit frames and the wheels cleanly and quickly. The set suits beginners who would not take on masking glazing themselves as well as experienced builders, for whom the main gain is the time saved.

This is not a model. It is an accessory for a plastic kit; the kit itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
