A set of main wheels for the American fighter in one forty-eighth, cast so that the tire seats noticeably at the bottom. The numeral three in the name determines which of the forms offered this is; with this type the tread pattern and the pattern of the hub differed according to the maker of the tires and according to the period of production.
The Mustang became famous as an escort fighter with an exceptional range, which accompanied bomber formations all the way to distant targets and back. A combination of an efficient laminar-flow wing, a large supply of fuel and a supercharged V engine had the credit for that. The machine was at the same time fairly heavy, which on a standing aircraft showed exactly on the tires.
Free the castings of release agent in a lukewarm bath with dish soap. Cut the sprue off so that the cut falls into the contact surface, where it is then not visible. Seat the wheels with the flattened part perpendicular to the surface and before the glue dries stand the model on a flat board, so that both seat at the same time. The tread pattern comes off best when, after the base tone, you go over the edges with a dry brush and let a darker deposit into the grooves. Leave the hub lighter; the contrast draws out the whole part.
