This is a resin detail set from the Eduard Brassin range in 1:48 scale. It contains the main landing gear wheels for models of the American P-51 Mustang fighter. It is not a standalone airplane kit but an accessory with which you replace the plastic wheels from the box with more faithful castings with a realistic tire tread pattern and finely rendered hubs. The tires are usually cast with realistic flattening under the weight of the aircraft, which looks convincing on the finished model.
On a model the wheels are among the most exposed details. The resin castings offer a sharper tread profile and a cleaner hub shape than injection-molded plastic usually allows. The set is intended for P-51 Mustang models in 1:48 scale.
First wash the resin parts in warm soapy water to remove the mold release residue. Cut off the casting blocks with a saw and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond the wheels with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Masking helps to separate the tire from the hub cleanly, or the hub can be painted before it is fitted.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
