This item is not a model of the aircraft but a detail accessory for a build. It offers replacement main wheels for a model of the Mustang in the B or C version in 1:48 scale, in the version with a cross tread pattern. On a model standing on its gear the wheels are one of the most closely watched places, so a cleanly cast replacement for the basic part shows at first glance.
The Mustangs of the B and C versions used tires with several different tread patterns during production and in service. Alongside the cross pattern there were oval and diamond patterns, so choosing the right type is one of the details by which a model can be tied to a particular aircraft from a period photograph. The B and C versions themselves were the first Mustangs with a Merlin engine license-built by Packard. It was that change which turned an aircraft intended mainly for attacking ground targets into an escort fighter able to reach deep over the continent with the bomber formations.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before the build and let them dry. Cut the casting remnants off with a fine saw and level the mating surfaces by sanding wet with respiratory protection. Resin parts are bonded with super glue. A tire suits a dark gray rather than a pure black shade; dust the sidewalls lightly and run a thin dark line between the hub and the tire. Set the hub apart in color, and judge any flattening at the point of contact with the ground by the way you place the model.
