A double-sided set of masks for painting a Phantom II model in the F-4J and F-4S versions in 1:48 scale, cut for the Zoukei-Mura kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Phantom II is an American two-seat fighter which from the 1960s served with the Navy, the Marine Corps and the Air Force and became one of the most widely used combat aircraft of its day. You will recognize it by its raised wingtips, its anhedral horizontal stabilizers and the long cockpit for a crew of two. The F-4J version belonged to the carrier-based variants; the F-4S designation belongs to the later modernization of the aircraft in this series. It is precisely the elongated cockpit with its several glazing pieces that makes the Phantom a model on which a mask set pays off.
The set is listed in its name as double-sided, so the masks are cut for both the outer and the inner side of the parts. The cockpit framing is often in a different shade on the inside than on the outside and both are visible through the clear part; with a double-sided set you therefore do not have to trace the inner edge with a brush. The masks are cut for the parts of the Zoukei-Mura kit in 1:48 scale.
Apply the mask before spraying, to a clean and degreased part. Press the edge down along its whole length with a blunt point so that the paint does not run under it, and spray several thin coats instead of one heavy one. Remove the mask as soon as the paint is dry to the touch, and pull it back over itself at an angle. Do not sand the clear part before gluing and wipe the fingerprints off it before you lay the mask on.
For builders of Phantoms in 1:48 scale. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
