A set of pre-cut masks in kabuki paper for the model of the Panavia Tornado combat aircraft in the GR.1 version. The EXPERT designation corresponds to the higher level of the set in the manufacturer's range, and the Desert Babe addition refers to one particular machine and its finish. Which elements exactly the sheet holds is given by the illustration on the packaging.
The Tornado is a two-seat aircraft with a large hinged canopy and only a very few frames. That looks like a simpler job than on aircraft of the Second World War, but in fact it is demanding in a different way. The area of glass is extensive and strongly curved, so every edge that paint has run over shows at first glance and cannot be hidden in the framing. A pre-cut mask shaped for that particular canopy solves the problem exactly where it arises.
Degrease the glazing before applying it and avoid touching it with your fingers. Seat the mask loosely and only then press it down from the center to the edges, so that no air bubble is trapped beneath it. On strongly convex surfaces a little warmth from a hair dryer on a low setting helps and the paper then seats better. Spray thin coats and build up full coverage gradually. If the model is to get a matte or satin clear coat, leave the glazing masked until the end and lift the masks only after that coat.
The set is an accessory for painting a model. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
