A kit of the German Panzerkampfwagen III Ausf. L medium tank in 1:48 scale. The real subject is the late form with the long 5 cm gun and additional frontal armor.
Responsibility details are not available.
In the first years of the war the Panzerkampfwagen III was the main German battle tank, and in the form of the Ausf. L it reached the peak of what it could do. It carries the long 5 cm gun with a barrel 60 calibers long, that is a weapon markedly more effective than the short barrel of the earlier forms. Its recognition feature is the spaced armor plate on the front of the superstructure and in front of the gun shield, separated from the main armor by a gap; such a spaced plate was meant to break a shell up or slow it down before it struck the armor itself. In this form the machine fought on the eastern front and in North Africa.
With ground equipment 1:48 scale is space-saving: the finished model takes up considerably less room in a display case than the usual 1:35, and yet it carries a decent amount of detail. A smaller diorama is easy to build in it, because the model needs less area and fewer accessories around it.
Remove the excess material and the marks of manufacture with a sharp blade, sand the mating surfaces and dry-fit the running gear. Leave the turret separate until the paint is sprayed. Do not flood the gap between the spaced plate and the armor with paint; it is exactly that gap that is visible on the model and that gives away the Ausf. L form. You can enliven a single-color finish by shading the large surfaces and using a darker tone in the corners; then add a layer of dried mud to the tracks and the fenders.
Paints, glue and putty are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
