Responsibility details are not available.
A cast figure of the pilot of the American Republic P-47 Thunderbolt fighter in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Plusmodel. With the Thunderbolt a figure makes particularly good sense, because only beside a human figure does it stand out what a massive machine it was. You can place the figure by the cockpit, on the wing or under the propeller, and the scene instantly gains both scale and a story.
The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt was among the largest and heaviest single-engine fighters of the Second World War. It was powered by an eighteen-cylinder Pratt and Whitney radial with a turbocharger located in the rear part of the fuselage. The pilots wore a leather or cloth helmet, goggles, an oxygen mask and a life vest, and sometimes a leather coat; it is precisely by this equipment that an American fighter pilot is recognized at once.
Wash the figure in lukewarm soapy water, cut off the casting block with a saw and bond it with super glue. Do the leather parts with a dark brown base and give them gloss only on the edges, and the cloth ones in a semi-matte finish. Set the life vest apart in a rich yellow, because in period photographs it is impossible to miss. In 1:48 scale a grown man works out to roughly three and a half centimeters, so only suggest the details.
The figure is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
