An injection-molded plastic kit of the Chinese J-8B fighter in 1:48 scale from Trumpeter. It is a detailed model with engraved surface detail and a generous parts count. The box holds plastic and clear parts, a photo-etched fret, decals and a wide choice of external stores, so you can build a straightforward model of a contemporary Chinese fighter.
The J-8B, NATO reporting name Finback, is a Chinese twin-engine supersonic fighter-interceptor with an elongated fuselage and a nose intake. Compared with the earlier variants it received a revised nose with a radar and more modern avionics, which also gave it a certain ability to destroy targets beyond the pilot's visual range. It was one of the key home-built fighters of the People's Liberation Army Air Force of its era.
Use liquid cement for plastic and glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Finish the well equipped cockpit and the ejection seat before closing the fuselage. The model offers optional positions of the movable surfaces, the flaps and the speed brakes, so count on that when planning. Apply a primer before painting and put the paints on with an airbrush. For natural metal schemes, metalizer paints over a smooth surface prove their worth.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
