An accessory for a plastic kit, not a model. The interior is made up of three-dimensional decals: colored elements with printed relief on a backing decal paper. They are transferred into the cockpit in water and, unlike photo-etch, they do not have to be painted or bent. The subject is the Polikarpov I-185, 1:48 scale, in the advanced skill version.
The I-185 was a Soviet single-seat fighter with a radial engine, developed in the early 1940s as a more powerful successor to the older types from the same design bureau. It remained at the prototype and small-batch stage and never entered general service, so it belongs to a field modelers know more from the literature than from photographs - which makes building it properly all the more interesting.
The advanced variant usually means more small elements, so have a sharp scalpel, fine-jawed tweezers and good light ready. Glue the cockpit together, spray it in the base shade and go over it with a gloss coat, and only then sand down the molded relief in the places where the decals will go. Leave the cut-out element in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the paper into place; it has no adhesive layer of its own, it holds on gloss, and on intricate places a drop of super glue helps. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as they attack the printed resin. On curved surfaces press down from the center toward the edges. Leave the seat, the belts and the small levers until the end. Fit the finished interior before the fuselage halves are closed, otherwise you can no longer get inside.
