1:48 RA-5C Vigilante

Painting masks RA-5C Vigilante 1:48 (Eduard)

A set of self-adhesive painting masks from Eduard in 1:48 scale. This is not a model but an accessory for building the North American RA-5C Vigilante. The masks are applied to the canopy glazing and to the wheels; after spraying they peel off easily and leave clean, sharp transitions with no paint creeping underneath.

The real subject

The North American RA-5C Vigilante was an American supersonic carrier-based reconnaissance aircraft of the Navy. It grew out of the original A-5 strike machine and was famous for its large size, its pair of jet engines and its high performance. It was deployed mainly from the decks of aircraft carriers during the Vietnam War, where it flew demanding tactical reconnaissance missions.

Use

• Transfer the masks carefully onto clean, degreased glazing and press them down so that they adhere well.
• Spray the color of the inner framing first and the final top coat afterwards.
• Apply the paint in thin coats with an airbrush so that it does not creep under the edge of the mask.
• Once dry, peel the masks off carefully, ideally with the tip of a knife or with tweezers.

Who the set is for

• For modelers who want to save time masking and to get sharp edges.
• For builders of this aircraft type in 1:48 scale.
• For beginners and experienced modelers alike who prefer spraying to painting the frames by hand.

The set contains self-adhesive painting masks made of kabuki tape; the model itself and the paints are not included in the package.
