A printed sheet 1:48 with the artwork of the French Rafale C 4-GO for the 2022 solo season.
Responsibility details are not available.
The special finishes of the French solo Rafale machines differ so markedly from year to year that nobody would mistake a model of one season for another. For 2022 the choice fell on the single-seat example marked 4-GO. The performances took place at air days across Europe and the machine was operated by the unit based at Saint-Dizier, that is where the French fighter force has the center of gravity of its Rafale operations.
Inside there is a single printed film with large side motifs, the artwork of the fin, the national insignia, the tail code and smaller technical lettering. A diagram with the placement of the individual pieces on the airframe is included as well.
The cut aims at single-seat Rafale C kits in 1:48 scale. The film does not replace spraying – the gray areas and any dark bases have to be applied with paint beforehand, and the decals then only add the artwork.
The graphics of seasonal finishes run over edges and over moving surfaces, so patience decides. Cut off only as much film as you need at the moment, so that the rest of the sheet stays dry. Once transferred, align the piece while there is still water under it; as soon as it begins to adhere, another shift will tear it. On the bulges above the engines and around the root of the fin, warming with lukewarm water and a weak softener help. Apply the sealing varnish in two thin layers; one thick one would lift the edges of the film. Once it has cured, go over the edges against the light; a corner that has not settled can still be saved by a drop of water and pressing it again with a soft cloth.
