1:48 Rotating propeller 56-66 mm is a metal accessory from Metallic Details that lets the propeller on a finished model turn freely.
Responsibility details are not available.
This accessory is not a model and not a propeller in itself in the form of a replacement blade. It is a metal assembly thanks to which the propeller on a model in 1:48 scale turns freely instead of being glued solid. The range of 56 to 66 millimeters in the name sets out the size of propeller the mechanism is dimensioned for, which covers the typical propeller size of single-engine aircraft in this scale.
A propeller glued solid is a small but permanent weak point on a model. Either it is glued into a blind hole and works loose over time, or it is glued with a drop of cement so thoroughly that any careless touch chips a blade. A metal mounting with the option of turning closes that question: the propeller sits exactly on the axis, holds its clearance, and when you blow on it or nudge it with a finger it turns instead of breaking off. On display models this is also used to demonstrate movement during presentations.
Alignment is crucial. Drill the hole in the nose square and on the axis, best following the boss in the fuselage, and assemble it dry before you glue anything. Neither the mounting nor the shaft must come into contact with glue, or the mechanism will seize, so glue sparingly and away from the moving surfaces. Paint the metal parts separately and never lay paint on the seating and friction faces, as a layer of finish is enough to make the propeller stick. Fit the spinner last and try the turning before you fix it in place.
This is an accessory for building a model, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
