An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet T-34/85 medium tank in the 1944 production version with the lower, flatter cast turret, in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. The model captures the more capable modernization of the T-34 with an 85 mm gun and a roomier three-man turret. The package contains a fret of photo-etched parts and decals with Soviet army markings; check the particular number of parts and schemes against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The T-34/85 was a marked step forward over the version with the 76 mm gun. The new larger turret took a three-man crew (which relieved the commander of serving the weapon) and carried an 85 mm gun that was able to threaten even the heavier German tanks. At the same time the machine kept the mobility and the simple maintenance of the original T-34. It was deployed from 1944 in the main offensives on the Eastern Front and stayed in service long after the war.
Assemble and paint the running gear and any turret interior before you close up the hull. Glue with thin cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. Airbrush the base protective green, apply a gloss coat under the decals, and complete the weathering with dark washes into the recesses and pigments for mud and dust effects on the running gear and the lower hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
