It is not an airplane model but a standalone set of access steps (a ladder) by which the pilot and the ground crew get into the cockpit or work on the aircraft. The set is typically made up of precise injection-molded plastic parts with instructions.
The steps bring an aviation scene on the apron to life: they are set beside the cockpit of the aircraft, next to the mechanics or as parked airfield equipment. They give a diorama a maintenance context and the scale of a human figure.
