The Aires resin set 1:48 Sea King HAR Mk.3/Mk.5/AEW Mk.2A pilot and co-pilot seats lifts the cockpit of the British helicopter.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from Aires replaces the seats of both pilots on models of the Westland Sea King helicopter in the HAR Mk.3, Mk.5 and AEW Mk.2A versions in 1:48 scale. The package holds resin castings; the helicopter kit and the paints do not belong with them.
The cockpit of a large helicopter is visible through the side windows and through the glazing above the crew's heads, and an empty seat out of the box brings that space down noticeably. A casting can render the frame, the upholstery and the cushions in a way an injection-molded part with a parting line never will. Because the seats sit right behind the glass, this upgrade is worth more than details hidden deep inside the fuselage.
The British Sea King was built by Westland under license from the American pattern and adapted for domestic needs. The HAR Mk.3 form flew with the Royal Air Force as a search and rescue machine, the Mk.5 version carried out related duties with the Navy, and the AEW Mk.2A was a conversion for radar picket duty over a naval force; its mark is a swiveling radome on the side of the fuselage. All three forms shared the same layout of the forward cabin, which is why the set covers the whole trio at once.
