Photo-etched steel seat belts for the cockpits of German fighters of the Second World War in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The seat in an open cockpit is the first place a viewer looks, and the plastic belts from a kit tend to be the weakest link: they are thick, they cannot be bent and they lie on the seat like a board. Photo-etched belts take that failing away. The set is intended for the cockpits of German fighters of the Second World War, where the harness was made up of a lap part filled out by shoulder straps running together to a buckle in the middle.
Steel sheet is springier than brass and holds its shape once bent. The belt can therefore be folded over the edge of the seat, turned and left to drape as it would lie in a real cockpit, and it does not spring back to its original position. The thinness of a photo-etched part also matches the scale, which cannot be reached in plastic.
Cut the parts out of the carrier sheet with a sharp blade on a hard surface; do not break them out. Make the bends with flat-jawed tweezers and work in small steps, so that the sheet does not kink. Glue with super glue laid on with a pin, as ordinary cement for plastic models has no effect on metal. Glue the belts into the cockpit before you close the fuselage up, because after that you will not reach the seat. Any painting and weathering is more comfortable before they go in, and the manufacturer's instructions give the procedure.
A set of photo-etched parts is supplied to the stated extent. A kit, paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
