A basic set of resin and printed parts for the British SEPECAT Jaguar GR.1 attack aircraft in 1:48 scale, for the model from Airfix.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Jaguar came out of an originally training project, which the British and the French jointly turned into a strike machine for flight just above the terrain. A pair of Rolls-Royce and Turbomeca Adour engines gave it a speed sufficient to slip past the air defenses before they managed to acquire it. The British squadrons deployed it in the GR.1 version mainly in West Germany, where it was reckoned that in the event of a conflict it would attack columns and bridges behind the front. Later the machine went through combat deployment over Iraq and over the Balkans.
The basic variant of the collection brings together parts cast from resin and printed in three dimensions, that is elements that cannot be made by plastic injection. As a rule these are the cabin with the seat, the wheeled undercarriage with the imprint of the load on the tires, and the exhaust sections of the engines. The whole brings together in one package what is otherwise bought in parts.
Resin castings have casting blocks, which have to be cut off with a saw, not broken off. Work under water while sanding, so that the dust does not get into the air. Wash and degrease the parts before gluing, otherwise the paint will not hold.
It aims at a builder who wants to get the maximum out of a Jaguar model and is not afraid of work with resin. The difference is best visible on the undercarriage and on the engine exhausts, that is where a model is looked at from close up and where thick plastic walls betray their origin most. The kit of the aircraft is sold separately.
