A mask set in 1:48 scale for the SF-260EA/D/EU trainer in the form with the late bulged canopy.
Responsibility details are not available.
The SF-260 is an Italian propeller-driven training aircraft, a small low-wing monoplane with tanks on the wingtips and with the crew seated side by side. Dozens of air forces all over the world have flown it, because it handles basic as well as advanced training and at the same time has low operating costs. The designations EA, D and EU distinguish the individual versions. Later machines received a higher, bulged canopy, and it is to the shape of that canopy that the set is cut.
Masks for covering the glazing in 1:48 scale, shaped for the late bulged canopy. The canopy frames thereby get a sharp edge without taping strips on by hand, which on a small aircraft with a much divided canopy is a whole evening's work.
The masks are stuck onto the clear part before spraying, not after the paint has dried. Rid the surface of fingerprints and grease beforehand. Move the individual parts with the tip of a knife or with tweezers and press the edges down thoroughly with a toothpick so that the paint cannot run under. Spray in thin coats and take the masks off as soon as the paint has set, because they pull the edge away more easily from a fully hardened coat. Wipe any adhesive residue off with a cotton swab.
For modelers who build the SF-260 in 1:48 scale and want clean glazing without the slow business of cutting tape. Before buying, compare the shape of the canopy on your kit, because the set is listed for the late form. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
