Single riveting rows, single-row 3D riveting decals (1:48, Eduard)

An accessory, not a model. These are 3D decals from the Eddie the Riveter range by Eduard, a sheet with individual rows of small raised rivets. The rivets are formed in the body of the decal, so a raised, three-dimensional relief of riveting appears on the surface of the model, which neither engraving nor an ordinary print can manage. This variant contains single rows and is made exactly for 1:48 scale, so the spacing and the size of the rivets match that scale and differ in this from the otherwise identical set in 1:32.

Use

• Treat the surface of the model with a primer and sand it smooth, because the rivets settle best on a base like that.
• Cut a strip with a row of rivets off, dip it in lukewarm water and slide it into place as a waterslide decal.
• Run the row along engraved lines or a pre-drawn centerline, so that it stays straight.
• Once dry, the decal can be airbrushed and brushed over, because the rivets stay raised even under paint.
• A decal softener will improve the fixing and the adhesion.

Who the accessory is for

For modelers in 1:48 scale who want to restore or add the riveting of an airframe faithfully during a build or after working the surface. It is used universally across types of aircraft and is not tied to one kit. Watch the scale: this set is for 1:48; an almost identical set also exists for 1:32 (larger rivets and spacing) and for 1:72.

This is an accessory for finishing the surface, not a kit. Paints, primer and the model are not included in the package.
