Eduard 1:48 Spitfire Mk. VIII masks is a cut self-adhesive masking set in kabuki tape for masking the cockpit glazing and the wheels of a model of the British fighter. It is not a model but an accessory for clean painting.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard holds precisely cut self-adhesive masks in fine Japanese kabuki tape for a model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk. VIII fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit or a finished model but an accessory that makes masking easier and more accurate while spraying paint.
The masks are stuck onto the canopy frames and the wheel hubs, so that spraying leaves the glazing clear and the tires free of paint. Kabuki tape conforms well to curved shapes, holds tightly and leaves no adhesive when peeled off. Thanks to that the canopy frames come out sharp and straight with no cutting of tape by hand. Before spraying, press the masks down carefully all round so that paint does not creep underneath, and once the coat is dry lift them off carefully.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk. VIII was a fighter version with the powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin 60 series engine with a two-stage supercharger. Compared with earlier variants it received a strengthened airframe, a retractable tailwheel and better performance at high altitude. It was used, among other places, in the Mediterranean and in the Pacific.
The set holds only the cut masking parts. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
