Eduard Spitfire Mk. XVI Bubbletop masks 1:48 is a die-cut self-adhesive masking set for the British Supermarine Spitfire Mk. XVI fighter with a teardrop canopy. It is not a model but a masking aid.
Responsibility details are not available.
A die-cut self-adhesive Eduard masking set in 1:48 scale for the British Supermarine Spitfire Mk. XVI fighter in the version with a cut-down rear fuselage and a teardrop canopy (bubbletop). It is neither a kit nor a model in its own right, but a set of precisely shaped masks in thin yellow masking tape (kabuki). The masks cover the framing of the glazed cockpit and make it easier to spray the glazing cleanly; depending on the contents of the package they also serve to cover the wheels. The parts are cut exactly to the shape of a particular kit, so trimming tape freehand is no longer needed.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk. XVI was one of the late versions of the legendary British fighter, powered by a license-built Packard Merlin 266 engine. The bubbletop form had a cut-down rear fuselage spine and a fully transparent teardrop canopy, which markedly improved the pilot's view to the rear. Most machines served as low-level fighter-bombers in the closing stage of the war in Europe.
Rid the glazing of grease first. Lift the mask off the backing, lay it on the frame and press it down so that it adheres without creases. Then spray the color of the framing with an airbrush in thin coats, so that it does not run under the edge of the mask. Once dry, peel the mask off carefully at a sharp angle.
The package contains masks only. The model, paints, glue and decals are not included, unless stated otherwise.
