This set from the Eduard resin range brings replacement main landing gear wheels for the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XVI with a hub of the three-spoke type, 1:48 scale. This is not an airplane model but a detail accessory replacing the simplified plastic wheels. The tires are cast with a faithful tread pattern and a realistic flattening where they touch the ground. Sets of this kind usually come with self-adhesive masks for clean painting of the rims.
The Supermarine Spitfire was one of the iconic British fighters of the Second World War. Late versions such as the Mk.XVI were powered by a license-built engine and differed in a number of details, including the design of the wheel hubs, where the three-spoke pattern also appeared.
Wash the wheels to remove the mold release agent and separate them from the casting block. Wheels are exactly where the advantage of resin shows: a crisp tread and a clean hub. It is best to use the enclosed masks, so that the division between the tire and the rim comes out clean.
