This is a resin detail set from the Eduard Brassin range in 1:48 scale. It holds main landing gear wheels with a five-spoke hub (5 spoke) for models of the British Supermarine Spitfire fighter. It is not a stand-alone airplane kit but an accessory with which you replace the plastic wheels from the box with more faithful castings. The tires are usually cast with a realistic sag under the weight of the aircraft and the hub carries a finely rendered five-spoke pattern.
The Spitfire used several types of wheel with different hub patterns; this variant matches the five-spoke form. The resin castings offer a sharper shape of both hub and tread than injected plastic allows. The set is intended for Supermarine Spitfire models in 1:48 scale.
First wash the mold release residue off the resin parts in warm soapy water. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand the surfaces with your airways protected. Bond the wheels with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Masking is useful for a clean transition between tire and hub.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
