A photo-etched detail set from the Czech maker Hauler in 1:48 scale. It is not a model but an accessory made of thin metal sheet that replaces the solid plastic grilles over the engine deck with a faithful perforated mesh. The set is intended for models of the early StuG III Ausf.B assault gun. Dimensionally it is based on the Tamiya kit.
On plastic kits the grilles of the cooling system come out thick and opaque. The photo-etched replacement is an order of magnitude thinner, has a realistic mesh structure and gives the impression of real sheet metal over the engine. The detail comes visibly closer to the real thing without your having to touch the structure of the model.
Cut the parts carefully out of the fret with a sharp knife on a hard surface and make the bends with a bender or two metal rulers. They are glued with a small amount of cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Degrease the sheet before painting and apply a primer for metals, otherwise the paint will not hold well.
This is a detail accessory, not a model in its own right. The basic Tamiya kit, the glue and the paints are not included in the package.
