A detailed resin set from the Aires brand in 1:48 scale containing faithful exhaust nozzles for a plastic kit of the Su-27 Flanker B fighter. The castings capture the fine structure of the petals and the inner ring of the nozzles, which tend to be simplified in a base kit. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory that replaces the nozzles from the kit.
The Su-27 is a Soviet and later Russian twin-engine heavy air superiority fighter. It is powered by two strong turbojets whose nozzles are among the visually prominent features of the tail of the aircraft. A fine rendering of the nozzles therefore raises the realism of a finished model considerably.
Wash the parts to remove mold release residue and separate them from the casting blocks. Glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and sand with respiratory protection. The nozzles are usually painted in metallic and heat-tinted shades; pick out the individual petals with a dry brush and a fine wash for the impression of heat wear.
