The Sudetendeutsches Freikorps was a paramilitary force put together in September 1938 from Sudeten Germans. It operated in the Czechoslovak border region at the time when the crisis over the cession of the border territories was coming to a head, and after the Munich Agreement its activity was ended. The period of the autumn of 1938 thus gets the population that appears in figure ranges only rarely.
The 1:48 scale is common with models of aircraft and with smaller scenes. A figure around 175 cm tall in reality corresponds to roughly 3.6 cm, so the figure fits in the palm of a hand. A small format is rewarding for the overall effect of a scene, but when painting it calls for a fine brush and more restrained work with shadows, so that the detail is not lost under the paint.
Cut off the excess material with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that the shape is not disturbed. Before painting, wash and degrease the parts, otherwise the paint may not hold.
The figures will be used by builders of smaller dioramas and of scenes to go with models in 1:48 scale who are looking to populate a subject from 1938. Paints, glue, a base and scene accessories are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
