Big Ed is the Eduard name for a bundle of several separate accessory sets for one model brought together in a common package. It is therefore a collection of accessories, not an aircraft kit. Typically such a bundle brings photo-etched parts for the interior and the exterior together with a masking set for the glazing; check the make-up of the particular package against the data on the packaging. The manufacturer is the Czech company Eduard, which builds Big Ed bundles to suit a particular model in a particular scale, here 1:48.
The Su-25 is a single-seat subsonic ground-attack aircraft intended to support ground troops. The design is subordinated to resistance against fire from below: an armored cockpit, separated engines on the sides of the fuselage and rugged landing gear for operating from unprepared surfaces. The wing carries a large number of hardpoints, so the model can be built in a range of armament configurations. The type came from the Soviet aviation industry and was used by a number of other operators as well.
Separate the photo-etched parts from the fret on a hard surface with a sharp knife, not with clippers, so that they do not bend. Make the bends in a bending tool or between two razor blades. They are bonded with super glue applied in a minimal amount; do not use a primer on pre-painted parts. Stick the masking parts onto clean and degreased glazing and press the edges down with a toothpick, so that the paint does not run under. Finish the interior and the gear bays before you close the fuselage.
