The SPACE set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard combines 3D printed decals with photo-etched parts and serves for a detailed rendering of the interior of the pilot's cockpit of a model of the Seafire F.XVII in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit of an aircraft but an accessory intended for fitting into a plastic model.
The technology of 3D decals joins the easy application of a classic decal with a raised, three-dimensional impression that flat printing cannot manage. The decals faithfully capture the instrument panel and the side panels with colored dials and labels. Colored photo-etched seat belts, which lend the interior a realistic look, tend to be part of it as well.
With the SPACE line only the backing paper is moistened, best of all with a sponge with a drop of dish soap, the element is lifted off with tweezers and fixed to the cleaned base with PVA glue. Never use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as their chemicals attack the printed resin and destroy the element. The manufacturer does not recommend cyanoacrylate glue with the 3D elements, as it suits only the photo-etched belts, which are formed to shape. The set is cut for a particular type of model of the Seafire F.XVII.
It is an accessory set, not a model on its own. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package.
