1:48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX TFace — an Eduard masking set

A set of self-adhesive Eduard masks in 1:48 scale for a model of the legendary Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX fighter. The TFace designation means that the set contains masks for the glazing framing from both sides — outside and inside — so that the cockpit frames can be painted realistically as seen from the interior too. The masks are die-cut from yellow masking material and follow the shapes of the framing exactly.

The real subject

The Spitfire Mk.IX was one of the most successful and most widespread versions of the Spitfire of the Second World War. It came about as a response to the German Fw 190, and thanks to the Merlin 61 engine with a two-stage supercharger it markedly improved high-altitude performance. It served on all the main fronts.

Use

• Apply the inner masks before closing the cockpit up, the outer ones after assembly.
• Spray the interior shade first, then the top color of the framing.
• The masks for the wheel discs make it easier to separate the tire from the rim.
