The set is a modeling accessory, not a kit. It contains pre-cut masks from Special Mask for a model of the American T-2 Buckeye jet trainer in 1:48 scale, in two versions: for the outer and for the inner face of the glazing. That second set is exactly what separates a carefully built model from an average one.
The canopy frames are painted on the inside too, usually in the interior color. If you mask the model only from the outside, bare clear plastic shows through when you look into the cockpit and the illusion falls apart. With an inner mask the procedure looks like this: you apply the inner masks, spray the interior shade, turn the part over, apply the outer masks and carry on with the primer and the camouflage. The result is frames correctly colored on both sides and sharp edges that line up exactly.
The T-2 Buckeye was an American naval jet trainer used for basic and advanced flight training, including practice for carrier landings. It was notable for its well-glazed tandem cockpit for instructor and student, a rugged structure suited to carrier operations and a long service life. Trainers tended to be painted in conspicuous high-visibility markings, which makes the masking of the cockpit an all the more visible detail.
Wash and degrease the clear part before applying the masks, because every fingerprint stays under the mask. Apply the inner masks carefully with tweezers, as working inside the cavity of the part is less comfortable than on the outside. Spray thin coats and let the paint set up between them. If the model gets a gloss coat under the decals, leave the mask on through that stage as well. Take it off by pulling it back over itself, not straight away from the surface.
