Hauler 1:48 T-34/85 photo-etched fenders are an aftermarket metal replacement for the plastic fenders for the model of the Soviet medium tank in 1:48 scale. The set does not replace the kit, it completes it.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of photo-etched fenders from the Czech maker Hauler, cut for the Hobby Boss kit. The parts are etched from thin sheet, so their edges match the scale. It is not a model of the tank but metal parts with which you replace the plastic originals.
On the real machine a fender is sheet only a few millimeters thick. Converted to 1:48 scale that works out thinner than paper, and injection-molded plastic cannot get near such a thickness, so from the side a plastic part looks like a plank. Metal photo-etch restores the proportion and on top of that it can be bent or shortened, so a model can have bowed or partly missing fenders, the way vehicles in service commonly looked.
Cut the original plastic fenders off only after a dry run and sand the remains flat, or the new part will not sit down. Degrease the metal first, run the bends in a bender or between two blades and glue with super glue in drops. Shape deformations with a round tool over a soft surface; metal takes that considerably better than plastic. Apply a thin primer before painting so that the paint holds; a dry brush and pigments will then stand out on the sharp edge of the photo-etch.
The set is an accessory for a kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
