The U-2R is the enlarged version of the U-2 high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft, a machine known by the nickname Dragon Lady. It flies so high that the pilot works in a pressure suit, and its cockpit is therefore full of controls that can only be shown in 1:48 scale by very fine means.
The SPACE range from Eduard is built on color three-dimensional elements for a model interior. These are not wet decals: the whole part is not dipped in water, only the backing paper is moistened, best with a damp sponge and a drop of detergent. The element has no adhesive layer of its own, so you lift it off with tweezers and fix it with white PVA glue; the manufacturer does not recommend cyanoacrylate, and a decal softener does not belong on the elements. The raised surface gives instruments and switches a depth that flat printing does not have. Which elements the package contains and where they belong is shown in the manufacturer's instructions.
Finish the surface you are going to place the elements on first and let it dry, then take the dust off it and degrease it. Moisten the backing paper, lift the element off it with pointed tweezers, lay it in place and press it down with a soft tool from the center toward the edges. Fix it with a drop of white PVA glue and do not use a decal softener. Try the position dry, because once pressed down the element is hard to move. Varnishing the interior over them is usually not necessary.
The set suits a modeler who wants a color cockpit quickly and without painting tiny instruments with a brush. Even a less experienced builder can manage it, because there is no gluing of metal and no sanding. The contents of the delivery follow what the manufacturer states; the kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
