An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Fairchild Republic A-10A Thunderbolt II attack aircraft in 1:48 scale from Tamiya. It is a proven, older mold with a reliable build; it captures the characteristic machine with two engines above the rear fuselage and a massive gun in the nose. The exact contents of the box and the number of decal schemes differ from one boxing to another.
The A-10 Thunderbolt II, nicknamed the Warthog, is an American attack aircraft intended for direct support of ground forces and for destroying armor. The whole airframe was literally built around its seven-barrel large-caliber rotary cannon. The aircraft stands out for its toughness, the heavy armor of the cockpit and its ability to carry a large amount of external stores. Two jet engines placed high above the rear fuselage reduce the heat signature and make operation from improvised strips easier.
Glue the parts with a thin plastic cement, fill the seams and sand them down; with this older mold expect raised panel lines rather than engraved ones. Paint the cockpit interior and bring out its detail before you close the fuselage. After the gloss clear coat and the decals, bring out the panel lines with a wash; complete the typical gray USAF schemes with fine wear and exhaust staining applied with an airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
