A photo-etched accessory set for a model of the British de Havilland Vampire FB.9 fighter-bomber in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Vampire was one of the first British jet fighters and you recognize it at first glance: a short fuselage nacelle, a pair of tail booms and the horizontal tail surface between them. It was powered by a single jet engine. The FB.9 version was among the fighter-bombers, that is machines intended for attacks on ground targets as well, and it flew mainly outside Europe, where the modifications for operating in a hot climate came into their own.
Photo-etched parts are made by etching an outline into thin metal sheet, so they have a thickness that cannot be reached with plastic. They replace features that inevitably come out thick in a kit and add detail that will not fit into a mold. On a finished model the difference shows most where the eye looks first, that is in the cockpit and on the edges.
The parts are held on the carrier sheet by thin tabs. Separate them with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not by twisting, otherwise they will bend. Make the bends in a bending tool or between two blades and always run them along the marked groove. They are bonded with super glue applied with a pin, because ordinary modeling cement will not join metal. Degrease the parts before painting and use a base coat, otherwise the paint will rub off during handling. The purpose of the individual parts and the recommended order are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
For builders with experience of fine work who want to take a Vampire FB.9 model beyond the level of a box build. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
