1:48 Westland Wyvern S.4 (early version) EXPERT kabuki masks, the widest level of the New Ware masking set for this type.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set for a model of the single-seat British carrier-borne aircraft Wyvern S.4 in 1:48 scale. With this maker the designation EXPERT stands at the top of the ladder of extent, and it is matched by a wider coverage than the lower level, which is carried as a separate card. The package serves for painting the model and does not have a kit in it.
The Westland Wyvern is among the oddest machines of the postwar Fleet Air Arm. Development began with a piston engine and ended with a turboprop powerplant spinning two contra-rotating propellers, which dealt with the enormous torque during takeoff from the deck. The type stayed in service only a few years and its sole combat deployment took place over Egypt in 1956. The early machines differed from the later ones in details, which is why the maker carries masks for the early shape separately.
A higher level of extent means more parts and longer preparation; count on that when planning the build. Degrease the glazing, lay the parts on one after another and check as you go that the edge sits in the engraving. Apply the paint in two or three thin layers. With contra-rotating propellers it pays to plan the order of work in advance: once you have seated them, access to the forward part of the fuselage gets markedly worse and masking becomes considerably harder.
