This set from Quinta Studio completes the cockpit of a Yak-130 model in 1:48 scale with colored three-dimensional details printed on decal paper. The parts come with their coloring and their relief already finished, so the instrument panels, the side consoles and the rest of the cockpit equipment gain depth without painting small details with a brush. It is an accessory to the Zvezda kit, not an aircraft model.
The Yak-130 is a two-seat subsonic aircraft intended for advanced pilot training, which thanks to its adaptable control system can imitate the behavior of various combat types. The design is twin-engined, with a high-set wing with prominent leading-edge root extensions, and the machine has pylons for stores, so it is also used for training in combat employment. The cockpit is stepped, so that the instructor in the rear seat has a good view.
The details are applied like conventional decals: cut them out, soak them for about fifteen seconds in lukewarm water and slide them off the backing paper onto a dry, smooth surface finished with a gloss varnish, on which they hold. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer at all, as they would attack the printed resin; on shaped surfaces and edges press the part down with a soft brush or a cotton swab, and on a complex shape a drop of super glue helps. It is advisable to spray the cockpit first with a base color in a matching shade, so that the edges of the carrier film do not stand out. Once dry, even the surface out with a matte varnish; a fine wash in the recesses adds depth to the cockpit.
The set is an accessory to a plastic kit. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
