Resin wheels for the Yakovlev Yak-9D in 1:48 scale from Eduard replace the split plastic wheels from the kit. It is a detail set, not an aircraft model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains resin landing gear wheels for the Yak-9D in 1:48 scale. They replace the wheels from the plastic kit, which are glued from two halves and, once glued, carry a seam running right through the tire tread. A cast part does not have that problem, has a crisper tread pattern and clearer rim detail. This is not an aircraft kit: the basic model has to be obtained separately. The manufacturer is the Czech firm Eduard.
The Yakovlev Yak-9 was a Soviet single-seat fighter of mixed construction with a liquid-cooled Klimov V12 engine. The Yak-9D version was the variant with an increased fuel load, intended for escort and patrol flights over longer distances; with it the takeoff weight carried by the landing gear also grew. Machines of this line were used in the second half of the war and were among the most numerous Soviet fighters.
Cut the parts off the casting blocks or print supports, true the mating face and wash the wheels in lukewarm water with detergent so that no mold release agent is left on the surface. Sanding is done wet and with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue. Do not paint the tires a deep black: rubber looks truer in a dark gray tone, which becomes lighter still once dusted with pigment. The rim is usually painted in a different shade, so mask it before spraying and bring out the transition at the end with a dark wash.
The set is supplied unpainted and without the base kit. Glue, paints and the aircraft model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
