The light cruiser Noshiro in 1:700 scale from the Japanese brand Fujimi. A plastic kit of a modern Japanese ship of the Second World War period.
Responsibility details are not available.
The kit captures a light cruiser of the Imperial Japanese Navy named Noshiro. It is made by Fujimi, a Japanese brand that has long devoted itself to ship models in 1:700. That scale is the most widespread for warships worldwide, so the finished cruiser can be placed beside vessels from other makers with no jarring difference in size.
The Noshiro belonged to a group of modern cruisers completed during the war, which were created with a clear task: to lead destroyer squadrons into battle. They differed from the older types in a tidier superstructure, a uniform main armament of 15.2 cm caliber in twin turrets and space for a command staff. The ship measured about one hundred and seventy-five meters, and her career ended in the autumn of 1944 in the fighting in Philippine waters.
On ships in this scale, patience in cleaning up the small parts and a level seating of the superstructure decide the result. Spray the hull before the superstructures go onto it, set the deck off in a shade of its own and finally add thin washes as shadows into the corners. Photo-etched railings and mast rigging are not part of the set, but they will lift the result more than anything else.
The model is neither assembled nor painted; the finishing, including the shades, is left to the builder.
