A masking set for the glazing of the two-seat TF-104G Starfighter for the Kinetic kit in 1:48 scale, in the rendition for one side of the glazing.
Responsibility details are not available.
The TF-104G is the two-seat trainer version of the Starfighter. The machine kept its characteristic slim silhouette with a long fuselage, a very short thin wing with sharp leading edges and the horizontal tail mounted on top of the vertical fin. The second seat in tandem behind the first lengthened the cabin glazing, so on this version it is exactly the canopy that is among the most conspicuous and at the same time the most laborious places in the build.
The set brings masks for the glazing of the TF-104G model in 1:48 scale and is cut for the Kinetic kit. The elements have shapes matching the canopy frames, so cutting outlines out of tape falls away. The set is in the rendition for one side of the glazing.
The masks are stuck onto finished glazing before spraying. Wash and degrease the area beforehand so the mask holds all the way round. Place the elements with tweezers and press the edges down carefully with a blunt toothpick, because it is exactly a loose edge that lets paint under the mask. Fill the larger open areas in the middle of the canopy with tape or masking fluid. Spray in thin coats so that no ridge forms at the edge of the mask. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, pulling at an angle toward you, and help yourself with the tip of a blade so that the layer breaks at the edge and does not tear into the surface.
For modelers who are building the TF-104G in 1:48 scale and want sharp canopy frames without lengthy masking with tape. The set is an accessory to a kit; paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
