Quality printing captures a period wallpaper decor and it is intended to be stuck onto the wall of a house, a backdrop or a cutaway interior. The 105x160 mm size is stated in the name of the item. The line is marked with Roman numerals and each number brings a different motif, so a whole house can be put together in which every room has its own character.
A bare wall of plastic or plaster reads as a material, not as a room. As soon as a patterned surface goes onto it, the brain translates it at once into a living space with a history of its own. In tableaux from damaged buildings the effect is stronger still, because a piece of wallpaper hanging off a wall is one of the most readable signs that somebody lived here.
First trace the wall on the back of the sheet and cut it out with a small margin. Use PVA glue spread over the whole area in a thin layer, otherwise the edges will lift as it dries. Press it down with a soft cloth from the middle outward. Cut the window and door openings out only once it has dried, when the paper holds and does not crumple. Go over the white edge of the cut with a pencil or paint. If the wall shows through, paint it beforehand with a light opaque color; a dark base would shift the tone of the decor toward gray.
